[ It's only in the late afternoon, after the execution meeting has long cleared, that McGillis makes an appearance in the library - it's quickly become one of his usual haunts. He's made a habit out of checking the videos for more abnormalities, but he also just likes reading and is often spotted quietly with a book in hand.
He easily recognizes the other regulars by now, so Anaxa gets a friendly nod as McGillis arrives. ]
Our plans have dissolved into chaos again, it seems. Do you have any idea what to make of this?
[ Anaxagoras himself is often glimpsed in the library just to the nature of it being where there is quite a bit to learn in the first place.
There isn't much to be done about their situation, infuriating as it is; there is a slight tilt of his head in acknowledgement before he speaks. ]
Hmph. Given the chaotic nature of this place...it might have been inevitable. Still, aggravating nonetheless.
[ ... ]
To be blunt, it made our disadvantageous position more clear.
We'll have to keep searching for what we can on our own...while waiting to see if those other four can get it together better than before.
From my point of view, we're dealing with a very dangerous third party. If we're not on the same page, I doubt any single one of us will emerge alive, or possibly even not as who were before.
As unfortunate as it is to admit, I agree with you.
[ He'll come a little closer so they can lower their voices some more - any others in the library do not need to hear the doomspiraling. Keeping the groups' spirit up is going to be vital, McGillis reasons. ]
Even if the puppeteers are telling the truth about their obliviousness, we'd be able to bundle our energy a lot more effectively without being obstructed every part of the way.
[ Looking on over as he does so, letting out a sigh.
Anaxagoras is not particularly too careful with his words, unfortunately. But, he seems to at least sort of catch on, at least. ]
To err is human.
However, precisely because of that, mistakes and misjudgments have lead to colossal failures and tragedies in of themselves. [ ... ] Going forward, I will be keeping tally on what lack of proper action has delayed proper resolution.
[ Perhaps it is simply best to look at them as no better than any of those within the Council. The circumstances they faced were the same, but in the end, they could only be foolish. Thus is his judgment. ]
...Though, I suppose in the end, I would have rather not have to been disappointed that history seems to repeat.
Under normal circumstances, I would say that there is no reason they would. This as an avoidable tragedy and there is little cause someone would repeat the same mistake, even on the off chance that we do have another werewolf among us.
[ And that would be pretty wild, to him. Werewolves shouldn't even be real. ]
But there are signs and portents of tragedy all over this place... It seems adamant to make us understand we are living in a horror story. Whatever else may occur, I suspect it won't be bloodless.
[ Werewolves should not, and yet, they are...to him, the idea is not so odd because he is used to seeing a manner of creatures in his own world. ]
The heart isn't so easily ruled by logic, so although it pains me to say as much, I doubt that was what completely ruled the day.
Whatever the case, I won't be expecting much different despite giving the opportunity for them to prove myself wrong.
[ At this point in time he is very hella salty, regardless. ]
...Once a force that craves bloodlust has a taste of what they want, it makes only more sense that it will come back for more. We should expect more vicious attacks in ways we can't even fathom. And ways we certainly can.
[ Prey...what a way and a word to describe it. Is it truly inaccurate, all things considered? He doesn't think so, as much as he dislikes the term being applied to them. ]
Yes. What better way to make prey easier to 'consume' than to send them into a state of confusion, distrust, and disorder?
...It's irritating having to grapple with a force that employs such tactics in the first place. Even if that is the point.

[ An isolated environment, some beasts, a group of very different people forced to work together against the threat... It's so cliché. ]
And the more paranoia that breeds, the more difficulty we will have to keep a reign on what is happening in the group as well.
